Vision Expanded

Often when one says the word “vision” on its own you automatically think of eyesight. However, there are other ways to use the word some are short sighted others more far sighted just like our physical sight can be.

Often we live with our vision very limited to what is right in front of us. It has a narrow focus, and it has nothing in its periphery. We think of today and those in our immediate circles. While that isn’t bad, God calls us to expand our vision, to use the fullness of how it was created, to see not just the central point of vision but all that is in the periphery as well. This is eternal vision. Looking past what is immediate and seeing what God is doing for the good of His kingdom. He wants us to not just see those right in front of us. He wants us to notice the outliers, the ones who others have missed, so that we, with our eternal perspective may bring them to Him.

I said in my last post that we were waiting to see if my pressure would lessen in my eye so that we could avoid surgery. Praise the Lord, it did drop. We are still going to need surgery, but rather than it being an emergency surgery, it can be a well thought out surgery and have a better outcome.

It has been an incredibly anxious week for me, worrying about my vision. My focus has been very inward, will I be able to see my kids grow up, my ministry involves the computer, etc. The Lord reminded me that my perspective must include everything in my scope of sight including the periphery, those around me, it must be Kingdom focused, an eternal view.

Even if I lose my sight, if my gaze fixed on my Savior, I will not be defeated, but rejoicing for He still has a vision for my life even if I have no physical vision of my own.

  1. With God as our focus, our vision is clear in every way. No matter what happens around us, it is essential to stay focused on God and trust Him with everything.
